Buying and selling: a walkthrough
Place your first trade and understand what each number means.
Trading a fun token is a few taps, but knowing what happens behind those taps makes you a calmer trader. This guide walks through a buy and a sell, and explains slippage, price impact, and why the amount you receive can differ from the estimate.
Placing a buy
On a token page, enter how much you want to spend. The app estimates how many tokens you will get based on the current price and the size of the market. Confirm in your wallet and the trade settles on-chain within seconds.
Your new balance appears in the holder list, and your trade shows up in the token’s order history with a link to the block explorer.
Slippage and price impact
The price moves as you trade. A large buy pushes the price up as it fills, so the average price you pay is a little higher than the quote — that gap is price impact. Slippage is the tolerance you allow between the quoted and executed price.
On thin markets, big orders can move the price a lot. Splitting a large trade into smaller pieces often gets a better average price.
Selling back
Selling is the mirror image: you choose how many tokens to sell and receive the network token in return. Large sells push the price down as they fill, so the same price-impact rules apply.
You always keep custody until the moment you trade — the tokens sit in your wallet, not with us.
